Product Overview

Sodium bromide (NaBr), CAS 7647-15-6, is a white crystalline solid or powder supplied with a minimum assay of 98.5% on a dry basis. The molecular formula is NaBr and the molecular weight 102.89 g/mol.

Sodium bromide is a readily soluble source of bromide ions. It is used in clear brine and completion fluids, in photographic and imaging chemistry, as a bromide source for water treatment and bromine generation, and as an intermediate in pharmaceutical, agrochemical and organic synthesis.

The material is not regulated as dangerous goods for transport, and is specified with controlled chloride, sulfate and pH (see table below).

Typical Applications

  • Clear brine and completion fluids
  • Photographic and imaging chemistry
