Sodium Hydrosulfide (NaHS) is an inorganic sulfur compound supplied as a light yellow liquid solution with a guaranteed NaHS content of ≥43%. The product is used in chemical processing, mining, leather processing and other industrial applications.
Product Overview
Sodium hydrosulfide (NaHS), CAS 16721-80-5, is supplied as a colourless to pale yellow liquid with a minimum NaHS content of 43.0%. The molecular formula is NaHS and the molecular weight 56.07 g/mol.
NaHS is a strong reducing agent and a source of hydrosulfide ions. It is used wherever a soluble sulfide or a reducing medium is needed: leather processing, ore flotation and hydrometallurgy, pulp and paper, dye and pigment manufacture, and as an intermediate for sulfur-containing chemicals.
The 43% solution is specified with controlled thiosulfate, sulfite and carbonate content (see table below). NaHS is classified as dangerous goods for transport — UN 2949, Class 8 — so shipments are prepared with the corresponding transport documentation.
